Casa Mesquita Alta is perched on a hillside with lovely views of the valley below and to the sea between the hills of the Cerro do São Miguel. Though  just two years old, the house has been built in a traditional style, using antique and reclaimed materials and thus offers the best of both the new and the old. It is situated close to the market town of São Brás with its hinterland of hills, and to the historic village of Estoí. With four bedrooms on two floors, Casa Mesquita Alta is ideal for larger families, for bringing the grand parents (baby sitters) as well, or for those who just want a little more space to themselves.

The house is on two floors, with the lounge having an airy, double height, cane-and-pole ceiling. The bedrooms offer views over the pool, the gardens and the valley. There are four bedrooms sleeping a maximum of eight people. On the ground floor, there is one double and one twin bedroom which share a bathroom. There is also a separate cloakroom. On the upper floor, there is a mezzanine that overlooks the lounge and dining room, two twin bedrooms (one en-suite) and an additional shower room.

The house is very well equipped throughout. The kitchen has an oven, hob, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and coffee-maker. There is a laundry adjacent to the kitchen with washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board. There is an open-plan dining and living area with shuttered windows, air conditioning and central heating, keeping it cool in summer and warm in winter. 

How big is the house ?

The total interior floor area is 2028 square feet / 188 square metres. The covered terrace is 455 square feet / 42 square metres.

 What outside spaces and facilities are there ?

There is a shaded seating and dining area looking out over the gardens and the valley below. From most areas in and around the house there are unrestricted panoramic views over the valley and hills. The pool and terrace area has a small amount of lawn, ideal for children.

On which day(s) can we arrive/leave ?

In season, change over day is Sunday, with standard check-in time 15.00hrs and check out 11.00 hrs. Out of season we are flexible on both days and times.

For how long can we stay ?

The minimum stay is seven nights, with high season bookings restricted to whole weeks. Out of season, you can stay any number of nights more than seven.

How close are the nearest food shops ?

The nearest food shops are in the town of São Brás, 1.5Km away. There are several good supermarkets and a small daily market selling fresh fruit, vegetables and fish. 

How close is the nearest restaurant ?

There is a local restaurant 'Hortas' a few minuites drive from the house, with many more just 5 minutes drive away in and around São Brás. 

How close is the nearest beach ?

The nearest beach is at Fuzeta, a 20 minute drive away.

What is there to do ?

Casa Mesquita Alta is off the beaten track so there are no organised activities near-by. The property will suit those able to entertain themselves. It will appeal to nature lovers, walkers, cyclists and those just happy to enjoy the peace and quiet.

Do we need to hire a car ?

Yes. Casa Mesquita Alta is in the country, so a car is essential.

How far is the airport ?

Faro airport is only about 30 minutes drive away.

Can we smoke in the house ?

No. Ashtrays are provided for smoking outside.
