Yes, it does still exist! From both the front terrace and
the roof terrace, you have views straight out over the lagoon and to the
sea beyond. The foreshore is on your doorstep, where the boats swing on
their anchors, the locals dig for bait and clams, and the wading birds
come and go all to the rhythm of the ebb and flow of the tide. With a
great sea food restaurant just a minute's walk away and the fresh sea air
in your lungs, you just won't want to go home.
Luazinha is a small
traditional cottage which has been simply renovated to maintain a fishing
cottage style. There is an open-plan lounge and dining area at the front of the
cottage with an adjoining kitchen area which is fully equipped for
self-catering. There is a shower room with hand basin, WC and washing machine.
At the rear of the house are two bedrooms both with fitted wardrobes, one with a
double bed and one with twin beds. Its small, quaint and functional.
How big is the house ?
The interior floor area of
the house is 668 square feet / 62 square metres. The roof terrace is 304 square
feet / 28 square metres.
What outside spaces and
facilities are there ?
The best 'room' in the
house is the roof terrace, which has seats and tables and super views straight
out over the lagoon to the beaches and the sea. You can watch the sun rise over
the sea, watch it set over the land, and settle down to watch the shooting stars
after dinner.
There is also a lower
terrace at the front of the cottage with similar views. In front of the cottage
is a rough garden area and parking space.
On which day(s) can we
arrive/leave ?
Between April and October,
change-over days are Saturdays. Check-in time is 15:00 hrs and check out time
11.00 hrs. In the winter months, we are flexible on both days and times.
For how long can we stay ?
The minimum stay is 7 nights, but we
bet you you'll want to stay longer.
How close are the nearest food
shops ?
The nearest food shops are in a
village 3 km away along the foreshore and inland. There is a small daily fruit, veg and fish market, a good
butchers', a grocers' and a small supermarket. Larger supermarkets are at
Moncarapacho (10 minutes drive away) and Tavira (15 minutes drive away).
How close is the nearest
restaurant ?
There is a great local restaurant
specializing in sea food about 2 minutes walk away. Its incredibly
popular with the Portuguese and with foreigners living locally. It serves good food at very reasonable prices.
How close is the nearest beach ?
The nearest beaches are at Fuzeta
(ten minute drive), Barril (five minute
drive), and St.Luzia (ten minute drive).
What is there to do at
Luazinha ?
With the lagoon and
salt-marshes on your doorstep, its a great place for bird
watching. Being part of the local village, watching the locals, being
watched by the locals and passing the time of day to them may also entertain
you. If you like walking, running or cycling, you can explore from your
doorstep. Otherwise, just watch the tide come and go.
