Facilities At the front of the house is a spacious lounge/dining room, equipped with sofas and table and chairs for four, Portuguese TV and DVD/CD player. The kitchen is at the rear of the house. It also has a dining table and is simply equipped for self catering. Full length glass doors open out onto a tiny rear patio. Stairs to the second floors are in the middle of the house. There is a modern bathroom in the centre, with a full length bath/shower. To the rear of the house is the double bedroom and to the front of the house is the twin bedroom. Both bedrooms have fitted wardrobes. What outside spaces and facilities are there ? The rear patio has a small table and two chairs. The real outside space of the house is the whole of Tavira on your doorstep. On which day(s) can we arrive/leave ? Dates are flexible in 2008. For how long can we stay ? The minimum stay is 7 nights. How close are the nearest food shops ? Everything is within walking distance. There are food shops right at the bottom of the street - 2 minutes walk away. Tavira's best supermarket is about 5 minutes walk away and the daily fresh produce market 10 - 15 minutes walk away. How close is the nearest restaurant ? Our favourite recommended restaurants in Tavira are all in a small area at the bottom of your hill - just a 2 minute walk. How close is the nearest beach ? The nearest beach is Tavira's, which you get to by a pleasant ten minute boat ride up the river. The boat leaves from the middle of town, just a 5 minute walk away across the river. What is there to do at Casa Carmo ? Tavira is your entertainment. Other than taking in the sights and tastes, Tavira runs a full programme of entertainment over the summer months. Much of it is open air and free, both in the great new amphi-theatre in the main square and in the riverside gardens. There are also free concerts in some of Tavira's many churches and for cinema fans, the open-air film festivals in July and August, both just up the hill from Casa Carmo. All of it, of course, is within 5 minutes walking distance. Do we need to hire a car ? No. We will arrange a taxi transfer for you to the house, and then you can be foot-loose and fancy free. If you want to explore further afield, we suggest you walk to the train station and hop on a train that runs either way along the Algarve coast for next to no money. How far is Casa Carmo from the airport ? Casa Carmo is about a 30 minute drive from Faro airport...but let the taxi driver worry about that - he'll know where he's going. Can we smoke in the house ? No. Only outside, please. |
