Further information
What is the accommodation like ?
Facilities
At the front of the
house is a spacious lounge/dining room, equipped with sofas and table and chairs
for four, Portuguese TV and DVD/CD player. The kitchen is at the rear of the
house. It also has a dining table and is simply equipped for self catering. Full
length glass doors open out onto a tiny rear patio.
Stairs to the
second floors are in the middle of the house. There is a modern bathroom in the
centre, with a full length bath/shower. To the rear of the house is the double
bedroom and to the front of the house is the twin bedroom. Both bedrooms have
fitted wardrobes.
What outside spaces and
facilities are there ?
The rear patio
has a small table and two chairs. The real outside space of the house is the
whole of Tavira on your doorstep.
On which day(s) can we
arrive/leave ?
Dates are
flexible in 2008.
For how long can we stay ?
The minimum stay is 7 nights.
How close are the nearest food
shops ?
Everything is
within walking distance. There are food shops right at the bottom of the street
- 2 minutes walk away. Tavira's best supermarket is about 5 minutes walk away
and the daily fresh produce market 10 - 15 minutes walk away.
How close is the nearest
restaurant ?
Our favourite
recommended restaurants in Tavira are all
in a small area at the bottom of your hill - just a 2 minute walk.
How close is the nearest
beach ?
The nearest
beach is Tavira's,
which you get to by a pleasant ten minute boat ride up the river. The boat
leaves from the middle of town, just a 5 minute walk away across the river.
What is there to do at
Casa Carmo
?
Tavira is your entertainment. Other than
taking in the sights and tastes, Tavira
runs a full programme of entertainment over the summer months. Much of it is open
air and free, both in the great new amphi-theatre in the main square
and in the riverside gardens. There are also free concerts in some of
Tavira's many churches and for cinema fans,
the open-air film festivals in July and August, both just up the hill from Casa
Carmo. All of it, of course, is within 5 minutes walking distance.
Do we need to hire a car
?
No. We will
arrange a taxi transfer for you to the house, and then you can be foot-loose and
fancy free. If you want to explore further afield, we suggest you walk to the
train station and hop on a train that runs either way along the Algarve coast
for next to no money.
How far is
Casa Carmo from the
airport ?
Casa Carmo is
about a 30 minute
drive from Faro airport...but
let the taxi driver worry about that - he'll know where he's going.
Can we smoke in the house ?
No. Only outside,
please.
