Catevento is set amidst
vineyards and citrus orchards and enjoys a seclusion rarely found these days along the
Algarvian coast. The three houses at Quinta Catevento have been renovated
from farm buildings in antique style to offer you accommodation with true
regional and historic charm. Add the sun and the pools, and you have the perfect
recipe for a relaxing holiday away from it all.
The
oldest part of the quinta, Casa da Avó dates back over 400 years and is a
quaint, homely cottage with lovely period features. It sleeps up to 4 people in
one double bedroom and one twin bedroom with en-suite shower room and WC. There
is separate shower room with WC. There is a cosy kitchen and dining room,
featuring the old bread oven and a small wood burning stove. The kitchen is
fully equipped for self-catering, including: oven, four ring hob,
fridge/freezer, microwave, electric kettle, toaster. There is a washing machine
in the courtyard.

the house is 800 square feet / 74 square meters.

facilities are there ?
Casa da Avó has a large (10X5m)
private pool in its own garden. The pool terrace is equipped with table and
chairs, and sun beds. Adjoining the house, there is an enclosed cobbled courtyard
equipped with barbeque and dining table and chairs. There is a private cobbled
parking area.
You will not find a farm house in
the Algarve more packed with original features, original furniture and antiques
than Casa da Vinha. The is 'The 19th century house' Algarvian style. It sleeps
up to 6 people in a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and 2 single bedrooms. There
is a bathroom with bath/shower and WC, and a separate shower room with WC. There
is a lounge and a separate drawing room. There is a large kitchen with dining
table, fully equipped for self catering. For the winter evenings, there is
central heating and the lounge has an open fire. With Casa da Eira, it is ideal
for parties up to 10 people.

What outside spaces and
facilities are there ?
Casa da Vinha shares a large (7x7m)
pool with Casa da Eira. It has a large terrace adjoining the pool, equipped with
barbeque, dining table and chairs and sun beds. Off the kitchen, there is a small
private courtyard, featuring the original bread oven and stairs to the roof
terrace. The roof terrace has views over the vine yard to the pine covered hill of
Pinheiro and to the sea.
Recently renovated, Casa da Eira
makes a very spacious house for 2 - 4 people. There is one double bedroom and
one twin bedroom. Between the bedrooms is a bathroom with WC. The lounge, dining
area and kitchen are in one huge open plan room with traditional cane ceiling.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self catering, including: electric hob and
oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, electric kettle. The lounge has a
TV (Portuguese only) and a radio. There is a card table for the sharps. For
winter evenings, there is central heating and the lounge has an open fire. With
Casa da Vinha, it is ideal for parties up to 10 people.

Casa da Eira shares a large pool
(7x7m) with Casa da Vinha. It has a cobbled terrace facing south to the
fields. There is a barbeque, dining table and chairs and sun beds. There
is a shaded car parking space.

For how long can we stay ?
The minimum stay is 7 nights. You
can stay one, two or more weeks. In winter, longer stays attract discounted
prices.
How close are the nearest food
shops ?
The nearest food shops are at Luz de
Tavira, 3 km away. There is a small daily fruit, veg and fish market, a good
butchers', a grocers' and a small supermarket. Larger supermarkets are at
Moncarapacho (10 minutes drive away) and Tavira (15 minutes drive away).
How close is the nearest
restaurant ?
There is a great local restaurant
specializing in sea food close-by on the waterfront ( a good walk or 2 minute
car drive). Its incredibly
popular with the Portuguese and with foreigners living locally, but is unknown
to tourists. It serves good food at very reasonable prices.
How close is the nearest beach ?
The nearest beaches are at Fuzeta
(ten minute drive), Barril (five minute
drive), and St.Luzia (ten minute drive).
What is there to do at
Quinta Catevento
?
Quinta Catevento is of the beaten track so
there are no organised activities near-by. However, with the lagoon, salt-marshes
and pine hill on your doorstep, its a great place for bird
watching. Artists may
also find fruitful motifs in the boats and people working along the shore, the
local houses, and the landscape of the Ria
Formosa. The area is mainly flat and
is traversed by many dirt roads, making it suitable for walkers, runners and
cyclists.
We suggest you do, though the local town
is
only 1.5km away.

Catevento from the
airport ?
Quinta Catevento is about a 30 minute
drive from Faro airport.
Can we smoke in the house ?
No. Ash trays are provided outside
for smoking.

Most furniture,
fittings and fixtures at Quinta Catevento are antique. So if you like antique,
come, but if you like modern, try one of our other houses.
