What is the accommodation like ?The Two Bridges Townhouse was completed in July 2009. The property is modern with some traditional features, and is of high quality throughout. Downstairs, there is a double bedroom and the main bathroom with bath/shower, handbasin and WC. There is also a twin bedroom with en-suite shower room. An internal staircase leads up into the bright, modern kitchen and dining area with access to the rear terrace. The kitchen also opens into the lounge, which in turn opens out onto the front terrace, creating a bright and airy living space upstairs. The floors upstairs are of wood and of traditional tiles downstairs. There is air-conditioning throughout for the summer months, which doubles as heating for the winter. The ground floor also has under-floor heating. Two Bridges Townhouse has a floor area of 88m2, set over 2 floors. There is an enclosed courtyard downstairs where you enter the house, with doors into the double bedroom and a staircase leading up to the front terrace. The front terrace is equipped with table, chairs and sun umbrella. It has double glass doors into the upstairs lounge. At the rear of the house, opening off the kitchen/dining area, there is another terrace, also equipped with table, chairs and sun umbrella. This accommodation for your holiday in Tavira, has many of the typical architectural features of the area: stone window and door surrounds of many designs, wrought iron balconies and elaborate facades. Turning left outside the house it is just a 2 minute walk into Jardim do Coreto, a pretty square with gardens and pavement cafes and restaurants. From here, if you turn left, you can explore the old baixa area close to the river and old alta area up the hill, where you will find the impressive Igreja de Carmo. If you turn right in Jardim do Coreto, you come to the 'Roman' bridge, which takes you across the River Gilao into Tavira's main square, the Praca de Republica. From here, you can explore Tavira's commercial centre, or walk up the hill to explore its historic and cultural centre, with the castle, the Palacio de Galeria and the camera obscura. Literally a stone's throw away in front of the house, you will find the river, and an attractive cobbled area with views of the 'Roman' bridge and the historic centre of Tavira. If you turn right out of the house, you can walk out of Tavira following the river into the Asseca Valley. It is about an 8km walk to go up the river, cross at the next bridge - 'The bridge with no sides' - and come back into Tavira along the other side of the river. Well worth while for the walkers amongst you. How close is the nearest beach ? Ilha da Tavira is a short boat ride from the center of town, or you can walk out along the salt pans for an even shorter boat journey to the island. There are small 'mini mercados' scattered everywhere in Tavira. However the larger supermarket is about a 5 minute walk away along the river. There is also a new big shopping mall on the outskirts of Tavira, approximately 10 -15 minute walk from the house with a large supermarket. The excellent daily fresh food market is a 10 - 15 minute walk away across the river, where you can buy fruit and veg, meat, deli, fish and seafood. On your doorstep, not literally but almost! Faro airport is about a 30 minute drive away...but let our taxi driver worry about that - he knows where he's going. Sit back and enjoy the ride. No. We will arrange a taxi transfer for you to the house, and then you can be foot-loose and fancy-free. If you want to explore further afield, we suggest you walk to the train station and hop on a train that runs either way along the Algarve coast for next to no money. If you want to hire a car, see our car hire for your holiday in Tavira. Yes. Unfortunately we do not accept pets. No, please smoke on the terraces only. Ashtrays are provided.
