What is the accommodation like ?The oldest part of the The Vineyard, Grandma's Cottage dates back over 400 years and is a quaint, homely cottage with lovely period features. It sleeps up to four people in one double bedroom and one twin bedroom with en-suite shower room and WC. There is a separate shower room with WC. There is a cosy kitchen and dining room, featuring the old bread oven and a small wood burning stove. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, including: oven, four ring hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, electric kettle, toaster. There is a washing machine in its own cupboard in the courtyard. The interior floor area of the house is 800 square feet / 74 square meters. Grandma's Cottage has a large (10m x 5m) private pool in its own garden. The pool terrace is equipped with table and chairs and sun beds. Adjoining the house, there is an enclosed cobbled courtyard equipped with barbeque and dining table and chairs. What is the accommodation like ?You will not find a farm house in the Algarve more packed with original features, original furniture and antiques than Vine Cottage. The is 'The 19th Century House' Algarvian style. It sleeps up to 6 people in a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and two single bedrooms. There is a bathroom with bath/shower and WC, and a separate shower room with WC. There is a lounge and a separate drawing room. There is a large kitchen with dining table, fully equipped for self catering, including a newly installed dishwasher. For the winter evenings, there is central heating and the lounge has an open fire. Together with Grape Cottage, it is ideal for parties of up to 10 people. The interior floor area of the house is 1751 square feet / 162 square meters. Vine Cottage shares a large (7m x 7m) pool with Grape Cottage. It has a large terrace adjoining the pool, equipped with barbeque, dining table and chairs and sun beds. Off the kitchen, there is a small private courtyard, featuring the original bread oven and stairs to the roof terrace. What is the accommodation like ?Grape Cottage makes a very spacious house for 2 - 4 people. There is one double bedroom and one twin bedroom. Between the bedrooms is a bathroom with shower/bath and WC. The lounge, dining area and kitchen are in one huge open plan room with traditional cane ceiling. The kitchen is fully equipped for self catering, including: electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster and electric kettle. The lounge has a TV (Portuguese only) and a radio. There is a card table for the sharps. For winter evenings, there is central heating and the lounge has an open fire. With Grape Cottage, it is ideal for parties up to 10 people. The interior floor area of the house is 853 square feet / 79 square meters. Grape Cottage shares a large pool (7m x 7m) with Vine Cottage. It has a cobbled terrace facing south to the fields. There is a barbeque, dining table and chairs and sun beds. There is a shaded car parking space. For guests who have stayed here before, Grape Cottage is the new name for Casa da Eira. What is the accommodation like ?Cartwheel Cottage was renovated in 2008 into a two bedroom holiday farmhouse. It is traditional in style throughout, in-keeping with the theme of The Vineyard. There is a double bedroom and a single bedroom. There is a spacious shower room with a built in cubicle shower. The fitted kitchen, lounge and inside dining area are all open plan and spacious. There is heating throughout for winter stays. It is the most private of the four houses. There is a large, private, cobbled courtyard between the house and the old stable. The old stable is a large, open-fronted, roofed area which provides shaded outside space in summer. It is equipped with a built in barbeque with sink and dining table and chairs. Views are to the surrounding fields. You can park adjacent to the courtyard. For guests who have stayed here before, Cartwheel Cottage is the new name for Casa das Flores. Further information
How close is the nearest beach ?The nearest beaches are at Fuzeta (ten minute drive), Barril (five minute drive), and St Luzia (ten minute drive). You can also swim from the waterfront a ten minute walk from the quinta at high tide. The nearest food shops are at Luz de Tavira, 2 km away. There is a small daily fruit, veg and fish market, a butchers' and a small grocers'. Larger supermarkets are at Moncarapacho (10 minutes drive away) and Tavira (15 minutes drive away). There is a great local restaurant specializing in sea food close-by on the waterfront (a good walk or 3 minute car drive). Its incredibly popular with the Portuguese and with foreigners living locally, but is less known to tourists. It serves good food at very reasonable prices. The Vineyard is about a 30 minute drive from Faro airport. We suggest you do, although the local village is only 1.5km away,so you could do it all on foot or bicycle. See our car hire. The Vineyard is off-the-beaten-track so there are no organised activities near-by. However, with the lagoon, salt-marshes and pine hill on your doorstep, it's a great place for bird watching. Artists may also find fruitful motifs in the boats and people working along the shore, the local houses, and the landscape of the Ria Formosa. The area is mainly flat and is traversed by many dirt roads, making it suitable for walkers, runners and cyclists. No. Ash trays are provided outside for smoking. Change-over days are Saturdays. Check-in time is 16:00 hrs (4pm) and check-out time is 11.00 hrs (11am). The minimum stay is 7 nights. You can stay one, two or more weeks. Most furniture, fittings and fixtures at The Vineyard are antique. So if you like antique, come - you'll love it - but if you like modern, try our other accommodation.
