Whether you are lazing in bed in the tower bedroom, taking lunch on the shaded terrace, soaking up the sun on the pool terrace or cooling off in the pool, you have views all the way down to the sea. It may be hard to stir from The Round House, but if you do, you'll find the charming town of Tavira just 15 minutes scenic drive down the hill and access to the long white sand beaches of the Ria Formosa just a further 5 minutes on.  A fantastic honeymoon house or great fun for two couples sharing.

What is the accommodation like ?

The Round House has style and quality throughout. It is nestled in the hillside with all the accommodation facing southwards to the coast. On the ground floor, you enter into the large, open-plan dining room and kitchen, which is the centre of the house. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering. On the east side of the dining area is the second bedroom, with side-by-side twin beds. Adjacent to the bedroom is the master bathroom, which features a large corner bath, double hand basins, a huge mirror, WC and bidet. The west side of the dining area opens into its characteristic tower. On the ground floor is the lounge, which is equipped with a music player. Following the staircase upwards brings you to the main bedroom. This has an en-suite shower room, fitted wardrobe, access to the roof terrace and views to the sea.

How big is the house ?

The interior floor area of the house is 1212 square feet / 112 square metres.

What outside spaces and facilities are there ?

The Round House is as much about outside spaces as inside spaces. The kitchen/dining area opens out onto a covered terrace, shaded with passion vines, where there is a dining table. The terrace continues the length of the house, where there is a further small table and chairs - ideal for sundowners - and a barbeque. Below the tower is a raised terrace for sunbathing that overlooks the pool, complete with teak sun loungers. Steps lead to down to the teak-decked pool terrace and the 13 metre long pool. At the west end of the pool terrace you go down a few steps to the shaded lower terrace. All of these areas are completely private, enjoy sun all day long and views down to the coast. Another flight of steps takes you down into the small citrus orchard where there are oranges, lemons, grapefruit and clementines growing. At the front of the house, there is gated, private, off-road parking space for two cars.

What is it like walking from the property ?

You can walk up the road into the local village in a few minutes, where you can enjoy a coffee or a beer or a glass of wine and a meal and watch the comings and goings. Or you can wander into the hills, explore the valleys with their seasonal streams, take in the wealth of wild flowers in the spring time and the bird life all year round.

How close is the nearest beach ?

The nearest beaches are at Tavira, Cabanas and Terra Estreita (St Luzia), all about 15 minutes drive away, and Manta Rota, about 25 minutes drive away.

How close are the nearest food shops ?

Fifteen minutes drive down the hill brings you to Tavira, with its great fresh food market, large supermarket and other food shops.

How close are the nearest restaurants ?

There are two local cafe/restaurants just 5 minutes walk away, one up the hill and one down the hill. Both are run by local families. The food is local Portuguese faire that is best ordered in the morning or the day before. The many restaurants of Tavira, St Luzia and Cabanas are a 15 minute drive away.

How far is the nearest airport ?

The Round House is about a 45 minute drive from Faro airport.

Do we need to hire a car ?

Yes. The Round House is up in the hills of the Algarve and a 15 minute drive to the nearest town. See our car hire. 

What is there to do ?

Relax, unwind, look at the view, read a book, open another bottle of wine, enjoy each other's company, enjoy the fabulous pool, and take in the views. Are children welcome ?

No, sorry, The Round House does not cater for children (under 16). Adults only here. If you have children, please browse our accommodation for other villas in the Algarve, where you will all be very welcome.

Are pets welcome ?

No, sorry.

Can we smoke in the property ?

No, Ashtrays are provided for outside.

On which day(s) can we arrive/leave ?

For 2009 we have a flexible changeover day. Why not stay for 10 nights instead of 7??? Or any amount of time you like, though should fit well with our existing bookings. Check-in time is 16:00 hrs and check out time 11.00 hrs. In the winter months, we are flexible on times.

Is there a minimum/maximum length of stay ?

The minimum stay is 7 nights, but you will want to stay longer !

Is there anything else I should know about the property ?

Several of our villas in the Algarve have new names. The Round House is the new name for Casa Miradouro.
